~Thinking of You ~

Hello my crafty peeps! Pardon the lag in between DT posts, but we are super busy trying to finish the set up of our new Zibbet Store which are excited to launch for your shopping pleasure!

Today I am sharing with you a condolence card I made for a dear friend who lost her mother this year. I wanted to make something that appealed to her favorite color while at the same time cheer her up despite the circumstances.  I got to use tons of new goodies I've been dying to break out and tried some new techniques to have some fun with it.

I found a beautiful inscription I added to the inside of the card, but of course, I forgot to take a picture of the inside; however, if you are ever in need of something special to say, just Google the sentiment type you are looking for and you will quickly find yourself having to make some tough decisions on which ones to use!

The patterned damask paper in the background is from MME, the eggplant purple cardstock is from Colorbok and I used some purple Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels to lightly brush the cardstock and give it a little shine.  All the pearls and bling came from my stash as well as the lace ribbon, the eggplant ribbon I used to thread through the lace is from Offray.  The angel pin is handmade my yours truly and all the paper flowers were shabby chiqued and painted with glimmer mist and glitter.  The border bunch is from EK Success and the sentiment diecut is Spellbinders.

I hope you enjoyed this project and that you are inspired to get crafty this week. Make sure to stop by our Facebook Page to check out more DT Posts from the rest of the team.

We hope you have an awesome week and 'til the next post, I remain ~ Christine @ Crafting Family :)

I used tons of goodies from my stash.  The paper was from the DCWV Nana's Nursery Collection, the 8x8 chipboard book is from Maya Road and the outside of the book is covered with a receiving blanket to add texture.  I used Nursery Rhymes Cricut cartridge, Jolees stickers and a pink felt rose from fellow DT member, Christine.  I hope you enjoy my album & that it inspires you to get crafty.  If you are ever in the S. Florida area check out my CroppinTime FB page to find out when our next crop is and don't forget to check out Crafting Family's new storefront for some fantastic treats!  Christine is still in the process of uploading all of the inventory but if you are looking for something specific don't hesitate to contact her.  Until next time,
Peace ~ Love ~ Scrappiness!

~ALTERED PLATE~ By DT Rhonda R.

Hi Craft Peeps!!!...
The weekend is here... YAY!!... My post today is an Altered Plate I did for an exchange. First one I have ever done too! It was alot of fun, but BOY.... I sure had a hard time deciding on what to do. In addition this is my first post for CraftingFamily.com. I am their newest edition to the Design Team. Christine, the owner is a wonderful and compassionate person who cares about her customers and I am so happy to be working with her and her design team.

~~**~~**~~**~~

For my altered plate...
I printed out an image from the internet... I love things about sewing... I don't sew, but love anything to do with it! I first began by applying gesso to the plate... then using spray inks by Inkadinkadoo, I spayed in various areas and just blended them. I tore around the edges of the image and then distressed the edges using Tim Holtz' Vintage Photo distressing ink. After everything had dried I mod podged the image onto the plate. Curling up the corners of the image (in these areas I kept reappling mod podge in between dry times to really stiffen it up. I then applies mod podge all over the plate to seal everything in. Next I added a variety of mulberry flowers and stamens, lace appliques onto either side of the image, mulberry leaves, a thimble. Ribbon flowers and some beautiful sewing theme charms both from The Crafting Family Shoppe.
I hope you enjoy my project...

~ Design Team Back in Action ~

Hello my crafty peeps!  We welcome back our Design Team! Please help us welcome our new addition ~ Rhonda Ratliff!  She will debut our YouTube posts - woohoo! We absolutely love her Southern twang and her classic vintage art style - I am sure you will be more than inspired by her work and Southern charm this year :)

We are changing things up a bit this year and will be featuring two posts a week to make it more laxed and less hectic for our DT's because the #1 focus is the joy and love of crafting - therefore there is no room for stress! Life is busy enough as it is, so just sit back, relax & craft!

Today we are sharing with you last week's posts shared with us by our DT and Matriarch Pat Selman! For those of you new to the Crafting Family - she is my mom and the reason why I have a crafty side! I am fortunate to share the love of crafting with her and treasure every moment we spend together crafting and laughing :)

And now without further delay - here are Pat Selman's vintage inspired 8x8 layouts from an album she is currently working on:

She used tons of goodies including some faux stamping w/gesso, paint & ink. She incorporated a handmade pin by Christine Castillo, and a swirl paper flower by Rhonda Bewley-Ratliff. She got to crackin' on the brown lace we just listed for sale this week (& already sold out!).

Patterned papers by G45 Kraft reflections on sale now at Crafting Family, handmade pin by Christine Castillo, swirl paper flower by Rhonda Bewley-Ratliff, Tim Holtz embossing folders, perfect pearls mist & the recipe goes on! I love the layering on this 8x8 layout!

The tulle flowers are handmade by Pat!

Spell binder diecut used here with DCWV Luxury collection of papers; some handmade papers from Joann's clearance bin, and she used a couple of different clock embossing folders from The Paper Studio and Sizzix.

She used the G45 Kraft Reflections along with a touch of the Crate Paper Portrait sheet. The dinner plate charm, paper roses & wheat spray is also from CF's current supplies for sale and the flat paper flower accents are Making Memories - oldies but goodies from our stash! The ivory lace is from the dollar bin at ACMoore; burlap accents from Joann's Fabrics; and border punches from EK Success. She used the electronic Zutter edge distresser (or the "rougher" as Pat calls it - lol) to rough up the edges to give it that classic vintage feel.

We hope you enjoyed these layout projects and will come back for more inspiration from our Crafting Family!  For any questions on techniques or products used, please email us at: thecraftingfamily@yahoo.com  ~ or visit us on our Facebook Page at: https://www.facebook.com/TheCraftingFamilyPage.

'Til the next post, I remain ~ Christine @ Crafting Family :)
