"Ocean of Thanks"

Hi Everyone! I know it's been FOREVER since I've been able to post, but as you have heard from the DT, I've been busier than ever (but loving it) on the Facebook Group: Scrapbook Deals - which is where CF sells our scrappy supplies now! It's a buy/sell group for scrappy supplies and the girls on there make it a blast to be on working 'til the wee hour of the night!

Anywho, while our fabulous Sunday DT: Ashley is in the middle of transitioning into her new abode this week, I actually have a project I finished to share with you! Wooohooooo! Apologies for my over excitement, but I miss crafting on a regular basis!

So this shadow box gift I made is from a trip two of my 11+ year besties took to Florida to see me earlier this year.  We were around town trying to find souvenirs for them to take home to the kiddos when we found ourselves near the beach trying to find some seashell store...and so we had to take a moment for a photo op on the beach! I made two identical shadow boxes - one for each of the girls that came to see me, and what is cool is after they left, I went back to the beach to pick up some more seashells I used in the box to compliment the delicate ones I found in the little seashell store when they were here :)

The shadow box is from the frame department at Michael's; the burlap fabric is from Joann's remnant bin; the script paper is Recollections; and the background blue/green patterned paper is from Pink Paislee's Nantucket collection.  I printed the quote on textured cardstock from the Paper Company and inked it lightly with the sponge inkpad  which is a mix between Colorbox Ink and Tim Holtz.  I used DCWV cardstock to cut the loopy circles frame for the picture using the Elegant Edges Cartridge by Cricut and then sprayed it lightly with a mixture of Tattered Angels sprays. The rhinestones on the frame are from Forever in Time, and I used a hot glue gun to adhere the real seashells (the ones i picked on the beach got soaked in bleach water for a day). After I took the picture I added the date using the K&Co smash collection date stamp with brown ink in the bottom right corner. I used a Martha Stewart rolling zig zaggie cutting blade to cut the edges of the title and finally, I inked all edges of the paper with Colorbox ink.

Thanks for stopping by our blog today, and make sure to come check us out on Facebook and in Scrapbook Deals to see our latest deals on scrappy supplies :)

I hope everyone has a fabulous week!

'Til the next post, I remain ~ Christine @ Crafting Family :)

I apologize for being so late with my post today, it's been a "day".

Anywho...I am here to share a card that I made for my cousin for her baby shower. Now I know that the colors are a little dark and not your average pastels. But if you knew my cousin you would know why. First off we are not having your average baby shower, since she is due so close to halloween, we are having a halloween themed, costume baby shower. Yep, we are all dressing up. It is sure to be a FUN time.

Supplies Used
Will be back soon with those.

Don't forget about our September Sketch, you have until the 30th to get your take on it in.
You can take a look at all the GORGOEUS layouts the DT did and get more info HERE.

Are we there yet? Notebook by DT Jessie

Happy Wednesday Everyone, It's Dt Jessie here from Edogg Sugarlips and Princess Buttercup.

I wanted to create a little notebook to keep in the car. We travel a lot to see my in-laws and we drive the same way everytime. We ALWAYS say we need to remember certain spots to eat or to not stop somewhere, but we always forget to write the places down.
so I created this to keep in the car and I can write the state and the place and we will always know where to stop. :)
I used Graphic 45 paper from the A Proper Gentleman Collection the paper is called The Sophisticate.
The yellow is a scrap and the saying is from a set of stickers I got at Joanns a while back. I added some bling and twine and a button, I used a gel pen for stitching and then ribbon across the top.
I hope you enjoyed my project and have a great night.

Jessie's easy peasy bookmarks

Good Evening Everyone,
Jessie here with a super easy project. I am gonna confess that I didn't make these. My daughter did. She is 8 and saw the paper and wanted to make my DT project for the week. She is so proud of herself and can't wait to give these out.

The blue is cardstock and then the papers are from Graphic 45 The Perfect Gentlemen collection. We cut the cardstock to 2x6 and then the next layer is 1 3/4 x 5 3/4 she glued them down and added the stickers. It is such a cute simple project for kids. Next week I will have my tutorial for you. I put it off so she could so off her adorable bookmarks. Have a great night.

August 2012 Sketch Challenge Winner!

Hi everyone!

First off, let me apologize for the delay in announcing the winner...we first had a technical glitch that didn't allow us to see the upload of one of our contestants...and so to be fair to the entries, we did not start voting until we had all the layouts to review :) And now, without further delay....the winner of the 2012 August Sketch Challenge is:  (drum roll please)

LYNN SHOKOPLES from Scrappy Happy Mom blog :)

Congrats to Lynn, and a heartfelt thank you to the rest of our contest entries, there was some fierce competition going and the Design Team and I all said in unison "why do they have to make it so hard to choose!".

So now we just need Lynn's to send us her mailing address via email to: thecraftingfamily@yahoo.com so we can send her prize goodies :)

Thank you so much for participating with us this month, and stick around for September's challenge reveal :)

Candy Bar Holder by DT Jessie

Hi Everyone,
Jessie here with my Wednesday Design Team post.  I made this  candy bar holder, I plan on making more so this was my trial run. I like how it turned out.

I used Basic Grey Life of the Party Collection and the paper is called Buckaroo.  The mat of the butterfly is Bella Road for the Record Collection Apron Strings Paper, and some scrap black.
It was a super easy project.
Cut the paper 6 x 6. Score at 1/2 inch and 3 1/4. The 1/2 piece folds in to the right and the 3 1/4 side folds to the right to create the ouch. Tape down the 1/2 side and across the bottom.  I punched a hole to tie my bow using 1/8 satin ribbon.
That was it. Thanks for stopping by today.

love life [Pink Paislee Nantucket]

The Nantucket line by Pink Paislee is one of my favorites. I love the colors & I haven't even used it on a beach themed layout yet. Here is another layout I made with Nantucket. This layout features the papers & the ribbons.

Christine probably has some Nantucket left & if not, she can surely get you some. This is one line you do not want to miss out on.

To see information about the other products I used (& the sketch this is based off), check out my blog.
